Notes: Rap and hip-hop dominated this top ten list of cell phone ringtone sales and that pattern is repeated in general sales. According to NDP (market research group) Rap / Hip-Hop ringtones account for 23 percent of ringtone downloads, followed by Rock (17%), R&B (11%), Pop (10%), and Alternative (8%). Females download more than men (56-44, according to a survey by Digital Trends). The worldwide market for mobile phone music downloads was estimated at US$251 million in 2005 (ABI Research) comprising music tracks, ring tones and ring-back tones.
