The statistics were originally adapted from the Silver Institute's 'World Silver Survey 2007' publication. Countries just outside the top ten include: Bolivia, Sweden, Indonesia and Morocco. The largest silver mine in the world is Fresnillo (in Mexico), owned by Industrias Penoles SA de CV. It produced 33.5 million ounces in 2006. The second largest is Cannington (in Australia) owned by BHP Billiton which produced 29.2 million ounces.
