List: Top Ten UK Cookery Books
Date: July 2005
Source: Waitrose Food Illustrated magazine
Base: All Cookery Books published in English.
Notes: Saint Delia Smith in at number 2 - God bless her. Your editors' brother followed the roast chicken recipe in the number 1 ranked book and it was delicious, so clearly Simon Hopkinson does have the gift. Nigel Slater, who came in third, is chiefly known as a food writer who wrote for UK Marie Claire magazine and then later the Observer newspaper, and who had a best-selling book called 'Toast: The Story of A Boy's Hunger', an autobiography focused on his love of food and his family.
