List: Top 10 Restaurants in the World
Date: April 2007
Source: Restaurant magazine- a guide to "the best places to eat on Earth".
Base: 651 international food critics who are each allowed five votes. Only two are allowed for restaurants within their own region.
Notes: El Bulli, located near Girona on the north coast of Catalonia and sporting three Michelin stars, won for the second year in a row and has been placed in the top three ever since Restaurant magazine began its annual list in 2002. Its formula is of an ever-changing menu of 30 gormet courses and the chef Ferran Adria's famous "culinary foam" - made with one main ingredient and air. The "50 best" has been criticised for being Anglo-centric so in 2006 revamped its judge selection criteria in response. The top 6 positions were the same as in 2006. Top American reswtuarnt was 'Per Se' in New York in 9th poistion while the best Asian restaurant came in at 37th place.
