List: Top Ten Climate Change Research Institutions 1999-2009

Base: Science Watch used Thomson Reuters-indexed literature in journal articles published and cited between 1999 and the spring of 2009. This search produced upwards of 28,000 papers. From this set, Science Watch identified the most-cited institutions, authors, and journals based on such keywords as "global warming" - "climate change" - "human impact" and other pertinent terms.

Science watch generated four main tables from their research: a Top 15 of Most-Cited Journals in Climate Change Research (Nature came top of this table), a top 25 of most Highly Cited Authors in Climate Change Research (list headed by F. Stuart Chapin of the University of Alaska, a specialist in Arctic Biology) and two top 25 tables of Climate Change Research Institutions.
