Date: 2006
Source: Pringles Atlas
Base: All mountains in the United States whose summits may be considered individual mountains as opposed to subsidiary peaks.
Notes: All of the top ten tallest mountains in America are located in Alaska, including the famous McKinley on the in the Alaska Range, a relatively narrow, 650-km-long (400 mi) mountain range in the south-central region from Lake Clark at the south-west end to White River in Canada in the southeast.
The other ranges in the top ten are the Saint Elias Mountains, a subgroup of the Pacific Coast Ranges located in southeastern Alaska (United States), southwestern Yukon and the very far northwestern part of British Columbia (Canada) and the Wrangell Mountains, which are almost entirely volcanic in origin and include the second and third highest volcanoes in the United States, Mount Blackburn and Mount Sanford.
