List: Top Ten United States Fighter Pilots in Second World War
Date: June 2006
Source: Wikipedia
Base: All American fighter pilots (USAAF) in World War II with a confirmed 'Victory'
Notes: Different air forces had different methods of tallying a 'Victory' (i.e. plane shot down) so figures cannot be compared fairly across the nations. Richard "Dick" Ira Bong (September 24, 1920 - August 6, 1945) was the United States' all time "Ace of Aces", for his service record of 40 enemy aircraft shot down during World War II. He flew his combat missions in the Southwest Pacific Theater.
