List: Top Ten German Fighter Pilots in Second World War
Date: June 2006
Source: Wikipedia
Base: All German fighter pilots (Luftwaffe) in World War II with a confirmed 'Victory'
Notes: Different air forces had different methods of tallying a 'Victory' (i.e. plane shot down) so figures cannot be compared fairly across the nations. Erich Alfred "Bubi" Hartmann (April 19, 1922 - September 20, 1993) was the most successful German fighter ace. His tally of 352 enemy aircraft shot down consisted of 350 Soviet and 2 American aircraft in 825 combat sorties
