SOCIETY / PEOPLE
List: Top Ten historical figures people would most like to travel back in time to meet
Date: April 2006
Source: UK Poll by Doctor Who Adventures magazine
Base: 1,000 people were interviewed.
Notes: The magazine also asked interviewees which period people would most want to visit if time travel was possible and the top era was the 1960s. 'Doctor Who', by the way, for those who are unaware, is a UK television character who is a 'Time Lord' who travels through time and space exploring and saving various worlds from evil beings. He used to be portrayed as a slightly batty but jolly good middle-class hearty fellow but is now, due to the BBC's descent into pc social and cultural relativism, being transformed (or 'regenerated') into some sort of chippy northern oik with a chavette female assistant. 'Eee lass, we've landed on t' third moon o Gallifrey, mek us a coop o tea luv'. 'Am I bovvered?' - STOP PRESS: The Doctor has been regenerated back into a middle-class chap but the chav assistant stays. Exciting new story-line? There is 'sexual tension' between them. Golly.
