List: Top Ten Cyclists in the 2006 Tour de France
Date: July, 2006
Source: Tour de France
Base: All cyclists completing the 2006 Tour.
Notes: Floyd Landis was the third American to win the 'Tour', after Greg LeMond and Lance Armstrong. After the Tour, Floyd Landis was found to have failed a drug test after stage 17. On September 20, 2007, Landis' doping accusation was upheld by an arbitration panel deciding between him and USADA and was banned for two years. In response to this, The International Cycling Union formally stripped him of his 2006 Tour de France title. Second place finisher Óscar Pereiro was officially declared the winner. The only previous Tour de France winner to be disqualified was 1904 Tour de France winner Maurice Garin.
The 2006 'King of the Mountains' title was won by M Rasmussen of Denmark and top young rider was Cunego. T-Mobile won the team event.
