Notes: Le Mans is the world's oldest sports car endurance race and one of the most famous and influential in motorsports history. Begun in 1923 the race has been run every year except 1936 (cancelled due to worker strikes) and 1940 to 1948 (World War II). The records for wins up to 2008 was held by Danish driver Tom Kristensen, with eight victories, six of which were consecutive (from 2000-2005). A total of 117 different drivers had won in the seventy-six runnings of the event up to 2008. The United Kingdom boasts most winning drivers by country (32) and Porsche most constructor wins (15).
